Rock Pile Cache

On August 7, 2005 we went caching for three sights - Rock Pile, Not Just Another Dam Cache and Moose Point.  Rock Pile is in the Chena River State Recreation Area.  The last two are fairly close together and are near the Chena Lakes Recreation Area.  We found Rock Pile after a short but steep trail.  We also found Not Just Another Dam Cache.  Unfortunately on the last, someone left candy and it melted.  So we had to clean it up.  Word of advice - when caching DO NOT LEAVE ANY FOOD ITEMS!  It is particularly a bad idea up here in bear country, though a bear had not found this one yet.

The last cache, Moose Point, we did not find.  We just grabbed the coordinates and didn't print out the page.  So we didn't know we started on the wrong side of a small, but deep creek.  Additionally, we didn't know that we walked right past another cache!  Now we look up all caches in an area and enter them into the GPS.

Only 125' that way according to the GPS.

This wooden moose (complete with Moose nuggets that you can see in the Brad picture directly to the left of his feet) is at the end of the road at the Chena River Flood Project.
