Anchorage Trip - 2008

Brad and Heather drove to Anchorage and back May 7th through May 10th.  Fairbanks is 359 miles from Anchorage via the Parks Highway and 438 miles via the Richardson Highway.

The speed limit for most of the Parks Highway is 65 mph, but the Richardson's is 55 mph.  The Richardson Highway is a MUCH prettier drive, which is suprising since the Parks goes through the Denali National Park.

I've broken the pictures up into four pages.  This page has the drive to Anchorage (Park Highway), Anchorage Air Museum and the drive to Seward.

Pictures of a rock hill near Denali Park
Caribou near the highway
Caribou crossing the river and jumping up on the ice
Several of them had to try several times to get up on the ice
We found this gyro at the Air Museum
This had been repaired and added on to in the Alaskan way - Duck tape!
This was so true about the gyro
Cool old airplane - I'll update what kind after Brad tells me.
Self pic of Brad (reflection)
Blue water and white mountains
Heather looking at the cold river
We tried to hike to the Glacier in Seward, because the road was closed the last 3 miles - tennies and deep snow = wet feet
So we didn't make it all the way back to the glacier and had to make due with pictures from the open part of the road =( Next time!
